The air fryer does all the work in this healthier alternative to fried shrimp. Air frying creates a crispy texture without all the oil in deep frying. The breading is a simple coating of flour, buttermilk and crunchy Japanese Panko breadcrumbs. Shrimp cooks quickly so it only must air fry for 10 minutes for a golden brown outside and succulent, tender center.

After the shrimp is air fried, its quickly tossed in the bang bang sauce and served hot topped with cilantro. If you don’t like cilantro, chopped green onions can be used as a garnish.

Ingredients
1 Lb of Shrimp
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ cup Panko breadcrumbs
Olive oil cooking spray
½ cup mayonnaise
3 tbsp sweet chili garlic sauce
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 tbsp chopped cilantro for garnishing

Directions
Grease the basket of air fryer with cooking oil spray. Add flour to a shallow bowl, buttermilk to a second shallow bowl and Panko breadcrumbs to a third.
Dip each piece of shrimp in flour followed by buttermilk and lastly coat in Panko breadcrumbs.
Place shrimp in basket of air fryer leaving space between for air to flow, working in two batches. Lightly spray the shrimp with cooking oil spray. Air fry shrimp at 400ºF for 5 minutes.
Flip shrimp using tongs and air fry for 5 minutes longer, until outside is crisp and browned.
While shrimp cooks, stir together ingredients for bang bang sauce in a small bowl. Add air fried shrimp to a medium mixing bowl and drizzle with sauce. Toss to coat.
Serve right away topped with chopped cilantro.
